New Year, New Goals: Make 2025 Your Best Year Yet

Today is New Year's Eve and I'm working my full-time job but wanted to write a brief blog post to wish everyone a blessed, safe, and happy 2025.  It is also my husband's birthday today so we'll be celebrating him this evening.

As you might know from my previous posts, I am an enthusiastic CrossFitter. I enjoy participating in the workouts, even if I don’t always excel at them. The sense of community in the gym is one of the biggest draws for me, and the health benefits I experience from regular exercise keep me motivated. Recently, our gym put out the monthly newsletter, and I am eager to explore the new opportunities it offers for building my endurance and strength in the upcoming year of 2025.

In my blog, I have discussed the importance of setting personal boundaries. At this point in time, I haven’t established any specific fitness goals yet. I realize that I need to focus on setting these boundaries first. It’s important for me to have a clear idea of what I want to achieve so that I can work on myself effectively. I aim to find a balance that allows me to enjoy the workouts while still pushing myself to improve. By dedicating time to self-reflection and planning, I hope to create a solid foundation for my fitness journey moving forward.

I have already started on a non specific goal of eating better. I've been eating more vegetables, lean ground turkey, and eggs. I've been supplementing with a glass of Bolthouse Farms juice each morning. While I own a juicer, I don't have the time to juice my own veggies. I enjoy dairy especially cheese, yogurt, and ice cream but I'm decreasing my dairy as I recently finished a book that indicated dairy might contribute to increased mucus production. I have allergies and I've been dealing with painful sinus pressure recently.  I also had a nasty bloody nose recently! In short, I've not felt well and I believe it is because I was not fueling my body with healthy food.  My husband drives a high end SUV that requires premium fuel.  He tried using a lower grade fuel and to save a few bucks and the vehicle experience issues and did not perform well. I believe my body responded to poor fuel in the way my husband's SUV did.

However, I will not deprive myself.  As I mentioned, my husband's birthday is today and I baked off a frozen cherry crunch pie this morning.  I plan to enjoy a slice with a small dollop of whipped topping.  I also will never give up on pizza but just indulge in it less frequently.

I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you who has been following this blog. Your support means the world to me. Knowing that my words resonate with you inspires me to keep writing. As we approach the new year, I find myself reflecting on my journey so far. There is so much I want to learn to enhance my writing skills and make this blog even better. I am eager to explore new ideas, techniques, and styles that can help connect with all of you in more meaningful ways. Your feedback has been invaluable, and I hope to incorporate more of your interests into my future posts. The new year is a chance for growth, and I look forward to sharing this journey with you all. Thank you for being an essential part of this experience.

I will wrap up today by sharing a New Year's Day prayer.
