Why Slowing Down Can Boost Your Happiness

If you don't TAKE time to slow down, something in life will happen to MAKE you slow down.

I follow Nick Bare on YouTube; he's the owner of BPN supplements, a father, and phenomenal athlete.  His most recent video gave me chills as it talked about how he was hit by a car while during a morning run.  I linked to his YouTube video under Resources. It is 24 minutes but worth watching if you have the time.

Nick shared that he is grateful to not only be alive but also not seriously injured.  Given that Nick described that he was running on one side of the road and came to on the other side of a very busy road, the grace of God was clearly at work.  Nick shares that he believes this was a wake up call and a sign from God to slow down.

I began to reflect on my life, what I'm doing and the pace I'm moving after watching Nick's video.  I
started blogging as a hobby in October. Around that same time, I began taking surveys from several different affiliate marketing sites to earn a little extra income.  This is in addition to my full-time job in IT and Crossfit classes at least 4x a week and maybe an open gym day.  Hmm, maybe my menopause transition isn't the only thing stressing me out and making me tired.

I wrote a blog post recently that there will be fewer blog posts coming up so that I can spend time with family during the upcoming Christmas and New Year's holidays  - you can read it here if you haven't already seen it.

While I enjoy blogging, I sometimes feel rushed trying write posts and share them across social six days a week.  I've starting praying about reducing the number of posts that I make per week even once the holidays are over.  I want to provide quality content to my blog readers and not something that I threw together to meet an artificial deadline that I created for myself of posting six days per week.

I've experienced a few days over the past weeks were I have felt overwhelmed, going through a mental checklist to insure that my blog posts are shared to social, I've taken at least X surveys, I got the laundry done; I think you get the idea. I want to get off the hamster wheel and enjoy life whether it's watching TV with my family, cuddling with my cat, or simply reading a book.

Slowing down helps clear the mind. It allows you to focus on what matters. Rushing through tasks often leads to mistakes. When you take your time, you notice details you might miss otherwise. This can improve the quality of your work and enhance creativity. Slowing down also reduces stress, making your day more enjoyable. It’s about finding balance and making space for reflection. By embracing a slower pace, you can connect with your surroundings and appreciate life more fully.

That sounds wonderful!
