Why You Shouldn't Let Worry Hold You Back
Greetings! The scripture from Job is very fitting for me right now as my gynecologist recently told me to increase my protein. One of her suggestions was one egg plus a half cup of egg whites. I enjoy eggs but without a little sea salt or salt that comes from a sprinkle of bacon pieces, they can be fairly bland.
In my post The Power of Teamwork, I mentioned that my blood pressure was high at the dentist last week. When I told the gal that it's been high at my recent medical appointments, she suggested that I could have "white coat syndrome" or anxiety at medical appointments.
I remembered after my Mom had her heart attack in 2008, it was suggested that she follow the DASH diet which is reduced sodium. My mom bought unsalted potato chips and unsalted pretzels neither of which I recommend as they are quite tasteless. I thought it couldn't hurt to take steps toward naturally reducing my blood pressure. I'm already doing exercise and meditation which are recommended on the graphic I found. I had my husband buy some no salt seasoning at the grocery store last week. I used it to make a beef and veggies stir fry on Saturday night. I figured that the spicy Hunan sauce would have the salt covered. Ugh, the stir fry was quite blah. I ate it as is but my husband found some other Asian sauce in the fridge that he added to his saying it made it taste much better.I see my primary care doctor twice a year and I have my next appointment in early December. Oh, I should note that the primary care doctor that I've seen for years left OSU so I will be seeing someone new. I told my gynecologist that I was concerned about seeing a new primary care doctor mostly because of my weight. My previous doctor was more concerned about my sobriety and mental health than how much I weighed. My weight has been stuck and that's when it was suggested that I increase the protein. During my prayer time this morning, it occurred to me that I am worrying about my high blood pressure readings. I put it on on my prayer list in the YouVersion Bible app. While I shouldn't sweep the matter under the rug so to speak, worrying about it isn't going to help! Making healthier choices and prayer are the best things I can do.
